Jason Gray is performing at Joyful Noise 2018

by robinrussell52

*We were given the album Where The Light Gets In by Jason Gray to help facilitate our review. All thoughts and opinions are based on our experience. They are honest and 100% ours.

Jason Gray has been one of my favorite Christian singers since I discovered his music while I was going through the Ultimate Journey. His heartfelt, real-life and encouraging songs have ministered to the hearts of our family. When I heard he is performing on Saturday, June 9th at 2:45 pm at Joyful Noise 2018 in Blaine, MN. I was ecstatic!

My favorite Jason Gray song is Not Right Now. It talks about the need to sit in our ashes while we are going through profound, soul-searing pain. When God doesn’t answer our prayers how we want him to and when stuff happens, we don’t understand. Christianese “God has a plan,” “it has a purpose,” just hurts. It’s not helpful, and often silence is preferable. It’s ok to be in pain, and it is ok not to be ok. God meets us in every situation and every emotion. He is big enough to handle our anger, our fears and he is compassionate to heal our hurts and begin to soothe our wounded souls. When we sit in our ashes, it allows our flesh time to do the grieving it must do. We are then able to get up, take a deep breath, wash our face and start taking baby steps forward again.

Not Right Now

Jason Gray’s message in his songs often reminds me of the compassion, hope-filled, truth messages of Charles Spurgeon. I see both of them as preachers of the people. They have both experienced real life and have allowed it to help them build up rather than getting bitter.

I love it, too. It has spoke encouragement at some of my lowest points in my life.
