I have to admit when we first pulled up to the Comfort Inn West, Duluth, I was a little worried. It was further from the conference center than I had anticipated. However, as soon as we walked into the lobby, I was immediately put at ease.
As we walked through the doors of the hotel we were met with a modern, freshly updated lobby room. The front desk staff greeted us with welcoming smiles and prompt, friendly service. After our four hour drive, we wanted to drop our stuff off in our room, and head over to canal park for a walk and eat at Canal Park Brewing Company.
The hotel was in the process of remodeling, but the inconveniences where few, and we could tell the updates were going to make the hotel amazing!
As we entered the room we were greeted again by a modern, yet warm room. Two Queen beds, desk, fridge with a freezer, microwave, and lots of plugins for our electronics. I really appreciated the lamp on the night stand beside our bed. It had three electrical plugins, we are used to having to unplug something near the bed to be able to plug our cell phones in at night. This hotel took care of this not big deal inconvenience, but I did appreciate the thoughtfulness.
After we settled in our room, it was time to tour the rest of the hotel. We were pleasantly surprised to find a rather large pool, with a larger than normal hot tub. We passed on the pool this trip, but thoroughly enjoyed the hot tub.
The beds were comfortable to sleep in and in the morning a hot breakfast waited for us! One of the reasons we stayed at this hotel was for the continental breakfast. Hot eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, pastries, cereal, and much more waited for us in the lobby, breakfast area. It was awesome to go to the MACHE conference with a filled, satisfied tummy.
While the hotel was further from the conference than I had originally wanted it to be. In the end I was thankful, it was quiet, the pool room was never very busy, and if it was it had an adult time from 10-11pm. It was the perfect stay for us! Thank you Comfort Inn West of Duluth, our stay was wonderful!
