Type Tastic Typing Progam for classroom use

*We received a one-year homeschool subscription to help facilitate our review. All thoughts and opinions are based on our experience. They are true and 100% ours.

We searched for a typing curriculum

This year our three oldest kids are going to work towards becoming fluent at typing. We have used free programs in the past, but I thought they were kind of clunky, hard to track the kid’s progress, and they were supported by pop-up ads. I began a google search and asked my friends on Facebook for typing program suggestions. One of my friends suggested I look into Type Tastic. A typing program she said teachers in public schools have been using for their students. She also thought they had teacher discounts.

What did I want in a program?

It had to be easy for my kids to navigate, fun, free of ads, challenging, teach proper typing and build their speed. I need a teacher dashboard to be able to set their various levels and track the progress they are making. I want to know how many words they can type a minute and what areas they are making mistakes so I can help them as needed. Tastic met and exceeded my parenting and teacher expectations.

How does Type Tastic Work?

The company has a complete K-12 Keyboarding Curriculum for public, private, and homeschool learning environments. Teachers have a dashboard in which they are able to set up their student information. They set up the students name, password, the appropriate typing level, a student email if necessary. The teacher can set up more than one typing classroom if needed for the various levels of the students. The teacher then notifies each of their user name and password. When the student logs into their account it brings them to the lesson unit the teacher has assigned to them. The student is then able to save their progress and then start again from where they left off.

What if it doesn’t work for our family?

Great question, I had the same hesitation. Type Tastic took care of that concern immediately with their one-month free trial. We could try it without having to be committed to it. It took us less than a week for our family to fall in love with it and I was ready to hand them my credit card.

Type Tastic in action.

While Titus, my eight-year-old son, was working on his lesson I quietly walked up behind him. I didn’t want to distract him or throw off his typing. It was amazing, after using the program for a week, he had proper finger position, he was having fun, and he can now type five words in a minute. I started the twins at the K-3 level while Maddie was started at the K-12 level. As the twins developer their skills and become faster at typing I will bump them up to the K-12 lessons.

Would we pay for a 1-year subscription?

Absolutely! We are 100% sold on Type Tastic. It’s perfect for any kind of school setting. They have various price packages based on classroom sizes; school or district’s needs. To learn more head on over to their website.
