One baby.
I remember the first time we brought Maddie home from the hospital. I was now responsible for this small bundle of precious life, and she didn’t come with a manual. I sat down in our newly bought recliner and bawled my eyes out. I was overwhelmed and overtired. I was a nervous wreck. I slept with one eye and ear open. Mark was always telling me she was just fine and I needed to calm down. I would hear her crying in the middle of the night, and I would jump out of bed. Mark was sure I was going to smack into the wall if I wasn’t careful. Guess what! He was right. I got up so fast one night I literally hit the wall and fell back on the bed. My head hurt, my pride hurt, and I didn’t get to Maddie any faster. You know what would have calmed my nerves down? A camera connected to my iPhone like Smartbeat Infant Monitor.
Two babies, yikes!
When we had Naomi and Titus, our twins, it wasn’t much better because then I had two newborn babies. They were premies on top of it and added to the stress of bringing them home from the hospital. Two babies with different preferences and needs. I was terrified they would stop breathing in the middle of the night. It would have calmed my nerves down instantly to have the Smartbeat Infant monitor. I would have been able to anxiously turn on my phone and see for myself they were perfectly safe. I would have also been able to use the monitor breath detection to make sure they were breathing as they should be. Then let’s be honest, I would have still gone in and checked on them, because, well, that’s what mommies do.
Family owned and operated company.
When I was introduced to this company one of the things I instantly loved was that it is family owned and operated. It was birthed out of a husbands love for his wife. I was recently able to ask Nate Ruben, inventor, and founder of the company all of the questions that were weighing on my mind. It was wonderful to talk to the inventor first hand. The story of Smartbeat started when Nate was an electrical engineering student. Similar to my worry with all of my kids, his wife experienced the stress of bringing home their first child from the hospital. Sudden Infant Deth Syndrome (SIDS) is real and a horrifying thought for any parent. The sun going down each night is a terrifying thought for some new parents. Nate knew he had to do something to ease his wife’s fear. He used his skills and connections at the university he was attending to come up with a product that would make it easier for his wife to get the sleep she so badly needed to be the best wife and mother she could be.
First-hand experience.
I also had the privilege to sit down with Erin Wagner, marketing director of the company, to experience the monitor first hand. This life-saving gadget is the real deal. This thing is the Ferrari of all infant monitors. It has Breath Detection, which means it can even detect the breaths of your child. It streams straight to your smartphone or tablet. Sleep Alert tells you when your child has fallen asleep or woken up. My favorite feature is the two-way audio. Honestly, the two-way audio excites me the most for my three-year-old preschooler. I love the thought of having the ability to check on Timothy at nap time. Then using the two-way audio to tell him to lay back down and go to sleep.
Product birthed out of love.
Nate and his skilled team seriously thought of everything when he created Smartbeat. I am so excited to bring this product to our house. I am equally excited to share it with our readers. If you would like to learn more about Smartbeat check out their website. To get an even better idea here is a video explaining why the product was birthed and how it works.
