*I was given the CSB Reader’s Bible to help facilitate my review. All thoughts and opinions are my own and 100% honest.
My bible is slowly falling a part. Pages have been torn out, the binding torn and tattered. I have needed a new one for a long time. However, I love my bible, and I have been hesitant to replace it. Even though another bible would have all of the same chapters and verses, it some how feels completely different.
When introduced to CSB Reader’s Bible, I wasn’t sure how if I would like it, but as soon as I opened it, I fell in love with it. It does not have chapters or verses marked. It does not have commentary or other scripture suggestions in the margin as my other bibles have in the past. It is simply God’s word written in story form.
Winter is a time when our family slows down, we get more school work done, family game nights happen more often, and family read aloud’s come back into our nightly routine. I have slowly been adding new read aloud’s to our list of must reads. We have a quite a few on our list. Naomi wants to make sure American Girl books are on our list, Titus has requested The Prince and the Pauper, I want to ensure we read Steal Away Home and Little Britches (one of my all time favorites). I also want to include my new cloth covered, Simplified page design with a ribbon marker included. As I was looking through it, I fell in love with Psalm’s all over again.
With the chapters and verses removed, it is poetry in its pure form. I am excited to cozy up in my comfy clothes, sip coffee, eat coffee cake and snuggle up to read God’s word. I was wondering how I would feel without the commentary, but honestly, I am excited to be able to pray through what I am reading and then allow the Holy Spirit to teach me, open my eyes, heart, and mind to what I am reading. To have it penetrate my heart as only God’s word can.
