My Easy Peasy Pizza Crust

by robinrussell52

Pizza Crust

When I lived in Colorado my boss made amazing homemade pizza. The highlight of the pizza for me was the crust! I have tweaked the recipe a little and I want to share it with you!

Recipe:
1 Tablespoon yeast
2 Tablespoons olive oil
1 Tablespoon honey
pinch of salt
1 Cup warm water
3 cups flour

In a large mixing bowl combine yeast, olive oil, honey, and salt. Gently stir in the warm water until the yeast has dissolved, allow mixture to rest for five minutes.

After five minutes your mixture should be foaming and bubbly, a sure sign your yeast is working. Mixing in one cup at a time add your flour.

I usually mix in two cups of flour and then knead in the rest of the flour. Kneading in the rest of the flour allows me to better judge the softness of my pizza dough. Too much flour and it will be too dense, too little of flour will make the dough harder to work with. On a smooth clean surface sprinkle flour onto a counter or table and knead your pizza dough until soft and smooth, but doesn’t stick to your hands.

In a medium, clean bowl put in a bit of olive oil, roll the pizza dough in the oil, cover with a clean kitchen towel, and allow to rise for about an hour.

After an hour your dough will have risen, gently punch your dough down, now it’s ready to be used!

This dough is great for pan pizza, original crust, or our family favorite thin crust.

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. The thickness of your crust will depend on the size of the pan you use. I use our largest cookie sheet pan because I can stretch the dough out the furthest and it makes amazing thin cracker crust! Grease your pizza pan well, I find a mixture of butter and olive oil is awesome. Once your pan is greased press your dough into your pan. Using a fork poke holes into the dough, this helps to prevent bubbles from forming and helps the dough bake evenly.

Place crust into the oven and bake for five minutes. After five minutes remove from oven and allow to cool for a bit.

Your crust is now ready for your favorite toppings!

Pizza Crust

My kids are typical kiddos and love plain ole cheese pizza, but they will sometimes tolerate pepperoni pizza. My husband and I love veggie pizza with an Alfredo sauce, kitchen sink pizza which is pretty much whatever leftover meat and veggies we have from the week, and we love a great taco pizza.

What are your families favorite toppings?

What a fun family recipe. I’ve done pizzas with my nephews and they love it.

This is my go to crust for sure. It’s amazing for calzones and Stromboli as well!
