Hy-Vee Aisles Online, Making Multitasking Easy!

by robinrussell52

Yesterday was Saturday. The day I normally do all of our grocery shopping. I had some how gotten through the week without getting a grocery list made. I had also had Mark throw our grocery ad away. I knew most of my day was going to be shot and I was already not looking forward to the long day. Between making my grocery list, walking the aisles, then loading up the groceries, driving home, and putting the groceries away, I could kiss my Saturday goodbye!

Then I remembered seeing something about ordering groceries online from our local Hy-Vee. I picked up my iphone, found the Hy-Vee App, put the app on my phone (you can easily order online from your computer as well) and found I could order groceries while I was looking through the weekly ad online. Before I continued looking through the ad or started ordering groceries, I wanted to make sure it wouldn’t cost me an arm and a leg. I wanted to know my options for having our groceries delivered or if it was cheaper to pick them up at the store. Delivery was less than $5 and pick up was less than $3!  Score!

I started looking through the ads again. Shredded cheese, yup, need that, 3 for $5, sweet, into the cart it went! I went through the weekly ad, fuel saver ad, frozen ad, and all the other ads I would have found in my weekly shopper, but it took half the time it normally would have, because I didn’t have to write it down or organize my list by the aisles in the store (come on, you know you do it, too). I also didn’t have a chance to lose my list or forget my list, yup, I have done both!

After making my list and checking it twice to make sure everything we needed was in the “cart” and the weight or amount was correct, I was ready to check out. I went through all of the steps of putting in the correct address and then choosing the pick up option. I could have chosen delivery, the extra few dollars would have been worth it, but I was already going to be out and about, so picking them up made sense for us. After clicking, submit order, I soon received an email with a confirmation number, the things I had ordered, and they let me know Hy-Vee had received my order.  The email also let me know they would let me know by email when my order was ready to be picked up.

A few hours later I received a phone call from Hy-Vee. An item I had requested was not in stock and they wanted to know if I would like a substitution at a better price. That sounded good to me, I really appreciated them calling and asking me, instead of simply crossing it off the list.

Daniel, a courteous and friendly, young man, met me at the drive up lane with my groceries bagged and ready to be put in our van. I signed for my order, Daniel put the groceries in the van, and I was ready to go home and put them away.

While Hy-Vee was shopping, bagging, and doing my grocery shopping for me, I made two loaves of homemade bread. I was able to hang out and play with the kids, write a blog review, and enjoy the day. I also did not have to drag four kids around the store with me or shop late at night! Hy-Vee Aisles Online is my new favorite multitasking tool! If you spend over $100, which for our family is easy to do, pick up or delivery is free! You sure can’t beat that!

I have used this, and I feel guilty because I didn’t put in the work to get the groceries, so I am sure to tip the delivery person 🙂 Also, I love it because then I don’t buy extra junk!

I’m sure he delivery guy appreciates a good tip. I was excited at all I was able to do and the time I was able to spend with our kids. I will definitely be using this again!
