When we go down to Tennessee to my in-laws we usually do the 10-12 hour drive straight through. This year we had the time and finances to stop part way through. We stopped in Festus, Missouri, half an hour from St. Louis.
We knew we didn’t want to stay right in St. Louis, not knowing the area I contacted the Missouri Tourism Bureau to see if they could suggest towns within a half hour south of St. Louis. Sure enough, they knew their state and gave great advice.
Festus, Missouri became our goal. However not knowing how Mark’s body would do or if he would need to stop for stronger wifi to work we didn’t book anything.
The kids did great, Mark’s hot spot held strong, and we made it to Festus at about 2 pm. I went into the hotel and inquired about a two-queen suite with a pull-out sofa. The price for a Sunday night was exactly as I was hoping.
While I was filling out paperwork, I texted Mark to let him know to have the kids grab our stuff and come into the hotel.
When we got to our room I let the boys go in first. The first thing they said was, there’s a couch for us, I said that pulls out into a bed. In our family, we usually get a two-queen standard and with their sleeping bags, the boys sleep on the floor. This saves us a lot of money while traveling. To them, a sofa sleeper was a luxury.
We enjoyed the saltwater pool and then got an ice cream treat from their hotel mini-mart. They were the perfect treat after a long day in the car.
We slept great on the comfy beds and had a hot, delicious breakfast in the hotel’s breakfast room. Mark did a bit of work and we continued on the road to Tennessee.
Friendly, helpful staff, clean rooms! Oh, I have to mention the amenities in the bathroom. They had Dove products in the shower! Normally hotel products dry out my skin and hair, and they didn’t at this one. For me, this is a big deal!
After working at the Country Inn and Suites I have developed high expectations for our hotel stays. This property surpassed my expectations. Well done to the staff and owners!
