Four Daughters Vineyard & Winery

by robinrussell52

Four Daughters Vineyard & Winery

When Mark and I discussed where we wanted to go for our 10th Anniversary it was a no brainier! We agreed we should head towards Lanesboro, Minnesota! One of the big reasons was because we knew we could stop at Four Daughters Vineyard and Winery! This Winery has become one of our favorite Southern Minnesota destinations!

When you walk into the Winery you are immediately greeted with a friendly helpful face!

On this particular trip Mark decided he’d like to sample their red wine tasting.

While I chose their white wine tasting. Each swirl, smell, sip, and savour was a delight to our senses! The flavors ranged from subtly smooth to bold and earthy tones. The knowledgeable staff took us on a tour our palettes were truly delighted to go on!

Since our last visit their wonderful chef had switched up the menu. We were leery veering away from our traditional Four Daughter Winery pizza favorites, but my goodness were we glad we did!

Mark choose to go with the Lamb Gyro complete with a radish sauce, cucumber-tomato-onion salad, with romaine leaf lettuce as the wrap. Mark wasn’t sure he would like this dish as well without the traditional flat bread. He was shocked to discover not only was each bite full of flavor it was truly better without the flat bread!

I choose the Cauliflower Hummus served with deep fried pita bread and carrots. Oh! My! Goodness! This appetizer was above and beyond what I thought hummus was capable of being. With a bold orange flavor combined with a subtle soy sauce flavor this dish more than pleased my palette. I will be dreaming of this dish in my sleep!

No Four Daughters meal is complete without experiencing their dessert! Again the chef had changed up the menu as he is famous for doing. Instead of our normal chocolate truffles we savored and experienced the Twix Sunday. Ice cream smothered in a chocolate sauce with a delightful caramel toffee on the bottom. As you may have already guessed, again we were not disappointed!

The end of our meal brought us to the hardest decision of the afternoon. The question of the afternoon was which wine would we purchase and take with us to help us celebrate our decade anniversary! The winner for us was the Zinfandel, a bold smooth wine filled with earthy flavors.

Mark and I have always said we need to make it a couples night with the Hanson’s, Pratt’s, Hups, and Hood’s! Let’s do one of their chopped nights with their in house chef!
