We look forward to Wind Down Wednesday every year and this year was no exception. However, this Wind Down Wednesday was even more special to me. The Wind Down Wednesday Committee, along with the Downtown Association welcomed bloggers from all over Minnesota and Northern Iowa into our community with open arms.
I was able to meet up with old blogger friends and meet new blogger friends. To add even more awesomeness to the event, we were also not only allowed to bring our kids, we were encouraged to bring our kids. It was a win, win all the way around.
First we checked into the registration tent to get our lanyards. The lanyards were an easy way for vendors and downtown businesses to easily recognize the bloggers. We were also given a $10 gift certificate we were allowed to use at any Wind Down Wednesday vendor or downtown business.
Once we were all checked in, with my lanyard around my neck, we were off to find Mark at the Cellfie Tour both. Yup, we were both working one of our favorite events of the year, working to help promote the community we love.
The kids and I picked up Timmy from Mark, then the kids quickly changed into their swim suits for the pop-up splash pad. The Fire Department brought in one of their fire trucks, attached a hose to a fire hydrant, and voila a splash pad was created.
It was a hot day and the splash pad was a perfect way for the kids to cool off.
After getting dried off and changed the kids were ready to get their faces painted, jump in the bounce house, draw with side walk chalk, and attempt to hula hoop.
Root beer floats, lemonade, and chips-n-cheese where also on the top of their list of priorities.
As we walked down the Broadway Ave filled with vendors of all kinds we loved the unique art, jewelry, and other handmade wares. Yo-Yo balloons quickly caught the attention of our kids and we couldn’t leave the event without one in each of the kids hands.
We had eaten delicious food and chatted with family, friends and neighbors. It had been a full day of fun.
There are still two more Wind Down Wednesdays to enjoy this year, July 2oth and August 17th. Mark your calendar and come enjoy an event for the whole family! The Wind Down Wednesday Committee is always looking for new food, craft, and artist vendors to join the event. To find out more information on how to become a vendor, visit their vendor page here.
