I am by nature a trusting person, for the most part I am not a naive person, however, I deeply desire to give others the benefit of the doubt. I realize this is not always wise and perhaps why God gave me Mark, because Mark is very much the opposite. Mark wants proof of what you are telling him and sharing with him. Hearing it verbally is not enough for Mark, he must see fruit of what is being presented.
Essential oils is one such example. I wanted to believe they would do our family some good, but they are expensive and I needed them to prove themselves to Mark and I. One such occasion arose when Titus’s asthma flared up and he no longer responded to his inhalers or nebulizers. Titus could no longer run around with his sisters, fast walking even caused him to go into asthma attacks. When bedtime would come around, he would lay down, and immediately go into coughing fits. We needed a solution and I did not want that solution to be more oral steroids. I am not opposed to oral steroids when we are looking at possible pneumonia or other such illness, but I want to use them as little as possible.
In desperation I asked for suggestions on Facebook. A dear sweet friend private messaged me and told me she had some essential oils I could try on Titus. I didn’t have to buy them and I could try them, if they didn’t work we weren’t out anything. So at 9:30pm I drove over to her house and picked them up. She taught me how to use them and let me know if they did indeed work, she could order some for us that same week. Still skeptical I went home, went in Ti’s room, put a drop of the oil on his chest, and rubbed it in. As soon as I rubbed it in, his body sighed and he went to sleep without coughing! That week, through out the day, we would put the essential oil (which is called Breathe, sold by a company called Doterra) on Ti’s chest. We also use Dragon Time by Young Living. After a few days his body began to calm down, his asthma attacks were less and eventually would stop all together. He also began responding again to his normal treatments. Between his usual treatments and the oils he is back on track. We are trying to get him to the point were we can take him off his inhalers all together.
Just yesterday Mark went into an asthma attack after working outside in the cold air for a while. Without realizing it he had gotten too much fluid in his lungs. The Lord brought to my mind to pull out the breathe oil, I handed it to Mark, he put it on his chest, and his comment was, “wow I didn’t expect it to work that quickly”. It didn’t take all the effects away, but it soothed it enough so that he could relax and his lungs could do the healing work they needed to do.
This essential oil has truly been a blessing! We bought Titus a humidifier with a medicine tray in it and we found he responds even better when it’s mist in the air through out the night.
Another oil we have found that fits our family well is digestzen, another essential oil put out by the Doterra company. Mark struggles with digestion issues and digestzen has soothed his stomach and similar to how the breathe worked, gave his body the relief it needed to relax and do the healing it needed to do.
I, for one, am so thankful Essential oils have come into our lives and I have come to the conclusion that for our family they are worth every penny we spend on them! Are you an essential oil user? What are your favorite essential oils? Which essential oils have you found that have benefited your family the most? I’d love to hear your essential oil stories!
