Treasure Island Casino invites you to compete! Here’s what they want you to know!
Steak grill masters wanted. Meet the current World Food Champion at Island Food Fest
Red Wing, MN (June 10, 2016) Treasure Island Resort & Casino presents the summer’s hottest festival with the Island Food Fest. Savor the best BBQ from around the country as more than 40 award-winning barbecue teams fiercely compete in an officially sanctioned Kansas City BBQ Society BBQ brawl. In addition there will also be a sanctioned Steak Cookoff Association (SCA) competition on Friday night, presented by Sysco Minnesota and will feature 1881 Omaha Hereford Beef.
The line between the back yard barbecuer and a competition grill master is thinner than you think. The steak cookoffs are quickly becoming the hottest competition across the country. Unlike BBQ competitions, which can take hours to complete, the steak competition is much quicker. Spectators can watch the grilling process from beginning to end.
This is where anyone who thinks they are a grill guru can compete against the best steak cooks in the nation at Treasure Island’s Food Fest. Anyone can sign up to compete in the SCA Cookoff Friday. Kingsford is also a sponsor of the Steak Cookoff and will provide free charcoal to the teams. They will also add an additional $1000 to the first prize if the winner used Kingsford in their preparation of the winning steak.
Think you have what it takes to compete alongside the top BBQ cook teams in the nation or steak masters? Register today at www.bigislandfestivalandbbq.org/treasureisland/treasureisland to get in on the action.
There will be free samples of chili and appetizers Friday evening and the public is welcome to vote for their favorites.
Treasure Island’s KCBS and Steak Cookoff has been chosen as an Automatic Qualifier for three World Food Champions categories in the 2016 World Food Championships: World Barbecue Championship, World Open Chili Championship and the World Invitational Steak Championship. This is the Golden Ticket for competitors.
Meet Loren Hill, reigning World Food Champion, at Island Food Fest. He will be appearing and competing that weekend. Loren and his wife Cheryl earned $100,000 and beat more than 1,100 competitive chefs, home cooks and food sport enthusiasts in a week-long battle for the World Food Championships title in 2015. Their team is called The Smoking Hills and they are from Overland Park, Kansas.
The World Food Championships (www.worldfoodchampionships.com) features hundreds of competitors seeking food fame and fortune in Kissimmee, Fla. for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Following a tournament-style format across multiple iconic food categories, the WFC culminates with a Final Table faceoff where category champions brave potential elimination in front of a live audience and a discerning panel of culinary judges.
To go along with the KCBS BBQ and Steak Cookoff, there will be three days of the hottest up and coming country stars performing for free. The public can also enjoy a variety of vendors featuring food, good beer and food trucks, which makes for a great weekend at The Island! Visit TIcasino.com for more details.
