Our family loves fall. I don’t know if it’s because my birthday is in September, but autumn has always felt magical. The crisp, cool air, the colors changing of the leaves, apple and pumpkin pies. They are all some of my favorites. There is also a feeling of slowing down and settling in for the winter. Our kids love this time of year because they can play outside without getting eaten up by mosquitos. It is also almost time for local pumpkin patches to open their gates.
One of our favorites is Farmer John’s Pumpkin Patch. Located between Albert Lea and Austin, it is the perfect day trip. Last year they had face painting, hay rides, pumpkin checkers, a hay pile to play in, a silo slide and miles of pumpkins as far as the eye could see. Each of our kids picked out a pumpkin and began dreaming how they were going to carve them. Opens September 23rd! Admission is free.
Another local pumpkin patch is Stables Sweet Corn & Pumpkin Patch. They have a corn maze, fun cut outs you can get your picture taken. It opens on September 30th! Admission is free.
Here are a few pumpkin patches I have not personally experienced, but they sure sound fun.

Is there a pumpkin patch in Southern Minnesota you love visiting, but I haven’t mentioned. Let me know and I would love to add it to my list. Which pumpkin patch is your favorite?
