In our eleven years of marriage I have learned to not assume Mark will know what I want. Whether I need a break from dishes, kids or gifts for Christmas, my birthday or Mother’s Day. The times I have not communicated what I was expecting or wanting it usually ended in disappointment. I have learned to not take it personally. He has learned how to love me fabulously in other ways.
I began thinking about what I would love for Mother’s Day. This time of year I am thinking of my flower and veggie garden. I am thinking about camping, picnics and trips to the state park. Then there is perfect weather for horse back riding. Four kids later my fingers are not the same size they were when we got married. My rings need to be resized to fit perfectly. There is always the manicure, pedicure or a combination and I am always up for a massage. I wanted to put together a list of awesome ways Albert Lea businesses is helping celebrate mothers.
Riding has always been restful and energizing to my soul. Nothing makes me happier than riding in nature. Since I do not own my own horse and I would like to continue strengthening my riding ability riding lessons with Jodie Distad at Broadway Farms would be a delight to my soul. Jodie is patient, skilled and is able to teach me both english or western. I love both, so it’s definitely hard to choose which one to work on.
I could get my rings resized at Fisher’s Jewelers or Stadheim Jewelers. They have both been around as long as I can remember and both do sparkling, one of a kind pieces.
It’s Worth It Massage Studio is my favorite place to get a massage. Lindsay Kramer is professional and immediately put me at ease. The soothing music and her magical touch relaxed my body, mind and soul.
Can you believe I have only had one manicure in my whole life! However I have heard wonderful things about Allure and Expressions. Where do you go for your mani and pedis in town? Is there one I haven’t mentioned? I would love to add them.
Myre-Big Island State Park has gift certificates available for camping. You can purchase a state park sticker which would give a whole year of hiking, entrance to any state park in Minnesota.
For my garden I look to Hill’s Garden, Hill Top Green House or Plaza Landscaping and Garden center. They have skilled, knowledgeable staff to help you through blithe, fungus or any weird thing your plants might be going through. I know I can always pop in and get helpful solutions. They also guarantee their plants and have excellent customer service.
Season passes or individual tickets to a play, opera or other event happening at the Act on Broadway. Another fun idea is to simply give her money to spend at one of the Vendor Booths at the Wind Down Wednesday. A fun way to shop local this summer. The Farmer’s Market in Albert Lea has gift certificates. She could purchase veggies, crafts, flowers or many other items.
The Meraki Studio offers a wealth of options. Yoga classes, learn how to draw cartoons, take a dance class or a music lesson. Help the mother in your life tap into her gifts and talents. Kelly Gau Studio continues to offer opportunities to create lovelies.

Wedgewood Cove, The Interchange Wine & Coffee Bistro, Green Lea Golf Course, B & B Cafe and The Elbow Room are all great options. If you are the hang by the fire pit at home kind of people like we are Conger Meat Market offers delicious, old fashion butcher items.
There are so many unique and original gift ideas right here in Albert Lea. The best gift of all to me is spending the day with the ones I love. Do you have a Mother’s Day Tradition? I would love to hear about it.
