*We were given a free stay to help facilitate our review. Our thoughts and opinions are based upon our experience, they are honest and 100% ours.
Mark and I celebrated our eleventh anniversary and I have to tell you it was successful. Do you want to know what the most successful part was? We did not fight ALL weekend long! We rolled with the punches, we were supportive, we laughed in the tense moments, we practice listening and being understanding. I am sure the angels were laughing and singing hallelujah at the same time.
After we dropped our kids off at my parents house we went for a hike at our local state park with our husky Skye. It was a moment I have been waiting our whole eleven years of marriage to accomplish. I am able to check one more thing off of my bucket list. After the hike we went to our local dog park to allow Skye to run off her energy. She is seriously the fastest dog I have ever seen. She has three speeds fast, faster and fastest. It was fun to watch her run around and play with other dogs. Hanging out with my man and my dog in a community we love was a piece of heaven on earth.
We dropped Skye off at home, packed our bags and headed to a local restaurant to use a gift card we had been given. The food was delicious and not having to do dishes was even better. After dinner it was time to do what all old timers do. We went to our B&B, got in our pajamas, uncorked the wine, found our favorite shows and settled in to play a game of Settlers of Catan.
The Grace Place, a family owned and operated B&B was beautiful. Honestly, I had no idea such a place even existed in Albert Lea, but after our stay I can tell you, Albert Lea is blessed to have such lodging available. It is less than a block from the hospital, which at first I was concerned we would hear ambulances all night, but we didn’t. It was quiet and cozy. We stayed at the Ronald McDonald house in Rochester when our twins were born and having something comfy, cozy like this would have been awesome. We appreciated the Ronald McDonald House, but you cannot replace the feel and intimacy of a home.
The house is also within a comfortable walking distance of Albert Lea’s beautiful, historic downtown. The Interchange Wine & Bistro, 112 on Broadway and Crescendo offer delicious, healthy Blue Zone friendly choices. Dan’s Bike Shop is located downtown as well and offers bike rentals to enjoy many of the bike trails the community has to offer. If you have any questions during your stay the Albert Lea Convention and Visitors Bureau is also located downtown.
One of my favorite features of the house is the ability to rent one room or the whole house. It’s affordable and has quick access to many of Albert Lea’s best assets.
We were impressed with how secure and safe the whole house is. The rooms all have individual keypads on the door handles. Allowing for each guest to be able to keep their room private and secure. Each room is given a shelf for dry goods as well as in the fridge and freezer. A full kitchen is available to help make your stay even more comfortable and affordable.
The house has four bedrooms, one bathroom, a full kitchen, a laundry room, iron and ironing board, dinning room and a commons living area. A garage is available for a small extra fee.
The Grace Place truly lived up to its name as we had a fight free weekend, a beautiful, clean and welcoming room, delicious food, chocolate wine and relaxing gave us one of the best weekends I could have imagined.
