Many of you know Mark and I have brought the Southern Minnesota Social Media Breakfast to Albert Lea. We are passionate to give businesses and organizations tools to implement to help them thrive and grow. While we love social media as a tool, we do not love how social media has begun to replace relationships in peoples lives. There is a real danger for social media to become the only socializing you do. It is also a dangerous place for bullying to take place.
Imagine kid and teenage drama in the halls of middle schools, junior highs and high schools. Now, imagine this same mean drama in a secret world where these kids and teens believe they are not being watched and monitored (in some cases they are not being monitored or mentored with their devices). It is a very serious and real problem. We have all heard of numerous kids taking their own lives because of bullying off-line and on-line bullying.
I want to introduce you to a woman who has made it her mission to begin teaching our world to “Unselfie”. Challenging adults, caregivers and schools to get their hands dirty to tackle these very serious issues. Dr. Michele Borba is a leading international expert on parenting and cyberbullying. She is the author of two books, ‘The 6 Rs of Bullying Prevention’ and her latest book ‘Unselfife, Why Empathetic Kids Succeed in our All-About-Me World’.

I have great news! Dr. Michele Borba is coming to Southern Minnesota September 29th and she will be speaking in the Albert Lea High School Auditorium beginning at 6:30pm.
